H&S Competent Person Service

  • Retained H&S Consultancy Service (competent person provision)

The Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999 places a duty on employers to appoint someone competent to ensure that they meet their health and safety duties.

A competent person is defined as someone with the necessary skills, knowledge, and experience to manage health and safety.

This individual should also know and appreciate the limits of their capabilities. We provide an ongoing advisory and support service which will enable businesses to maintain legislative compliance and thereby protect their employees and those affected by the Company’s undertaking.

This service is tailored to our client’s needs, paying particular attention to those issues that the enforcing authorities identify as priorities.

Our service level agreement can include the following:-

  • A planned number of visits to your workplace to review your documentation and records and carry out a safety inspection. This will be followed up by a written report.
  • Retained Client Certificate
  • Telephone advice
  • Advice on updating your policies and procedures in line with developments in either your business needs or health and safety legislation
  • Liaison with your employer’s Insurance Company and or Brokers relating to compliance with the provisions of your Policy
  • Liaison with the Enforcing Authority (e.g. HSE) on your behalf acting as your competent health and safety advisor
  • Use of our consultant’s CV
